UPDATED: Networking Opportunity: Bankruptcy Law Panel Discussion

Panel discussion: Current Trends in the Practice of Bankruptcy Law
Wednesday, October 13
4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Tulane University Law School
Room 110, John Giffen Weinmann Hall

From October 13-16, 2010, New Orleans will be the site of the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges (NCBJ) annual meeting.

The NCBJ includes in its membership nearly all of the federal bankruptcy judges in the United States. The NCBJ's annual meeting is the premier gathering of attorneys, academics, judges, investment bankers and turnaround managers along with a variety of other restructuring professionals.

Some of the over 2000 professionals attending this meeting have participated in many of the largest and most sophisticated bankruptcy cases filed in the U.S. and globally.

There are also some lawyers who handle the variety of consumer cases that work their way through the bankruptcy system and often present interesting issues for the U.S. Supreme Court to decide each term.

On Wednesday, October 13, from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., at Tulane University Law School, several of the attorneys and federal judges at the NCBJ convention have agreed to participate in a bankruptcy law forum. A reception hosted by the NCBJ-NBA Liaison Committee will follow this timely and interesting panel discussion.

WHO IS INVITED?

Students from any of the undergraduate colleges in New Orleans, including the City's vaunted HBCUs, and law students from the region's exceptional law schools who are interested in business law, restructuring, insolvency, bankruptcy, or corporate or consumer debt solutions are welcome.

We have enlisted several prominent lawyers from some of the nation's premier law firms, most of whom also happen to be African-American, to lead the discussion. If you have only the slightest interest in becoming an attorney, or if you are already in law school and you are unsure of which area of law you wish to practice in, you should come to this program.
